DAY 3
Full day excursion to discover on foot the city of Udine. We’ll follow on with Cividale, a sort of time-machine-town, from its origin as a Roman outpost, through the vandals occupation, to its medieval past. Lunch at a local locanda that is famous beyond this land. More wine exploration in the afternoon.
DAY 4
This morning check out and short transfer to the Duino castle where you’ll start your walking on the karsic cliffs on the Adriatic Sea, an easy trail celebrated by the Bohemian poet Rainer Maria Rilke. The walking finishes right at your next hotel, located in one of the most charming bays of the gulf of Trieste.
DAY 5
After breakfast you’ll have a short transfer to visit the Castello di Miramare, a castle by the sea, where the Austrain Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Sissi spent their vacations. A full day visiting Trieste, its historical cafes and gastronomy shops will follow. We’ll walk on the foot of James Joyces, Italo Svevo and many other poets and writers.
DAY 6
After breakfast you'll have a short transfer to Trieste. Hop on the vintage tram that will take you up to Opicina, which marks the beginning of your walking. Following a trail, legendary said to be travelled by Napoleon's troops, you'll end up in Prosecco, a charming village where the first prosecco vines were discovered and are still cultivated. For lunch you'll go to our favorite "osmiza", the local word for agriturismo.
DAY 7
After breakfast we have organized your transfer to Venice airport. Arrivederci!
